Mindfulness of Thinking
Practicing mindfulness is often recommended in times of stress. But most people under stress find it hard to learn mindfulness because their minds are racing. They conclude, 鈥淚 cannot meditate. I cannot stop thinking.鈥 The good news is you don鈥檛 have to stop thinking to meditate. 聽This brief guided meditation can help you work with your thoughts and serve as a complement to other mindfulness practices.
Nicole Barr, NP, LMFT developed this training in mindfulness based cognitive therapies to help patients. Mindfulness can be very hard to learn during times of acute stress. Patients often tell her "I know I need to live in the present and mindfulness is supposed help but I just can't do it. I'm no good at it; my mind won't stop!" This brief guided meditation can help to work with a racing mind as bridge to practicing mindfulness for further stress relief.
