Biography
Dr. Robson Capasso is a Professor of Otolaryngology – Head & Neck Surgery at Stanford University, where he leads one of the world's most renowned Sleep Surgery services. He serves as Faculty Advisor to the Stanford Center for Clinical Research (SCCR) — one of the largest Academic Research Organizations in the U.S. — with 85+ staff, and over 500,000 participants recruited.
He is the Principal Investigator of a sleep digital health trial and Co-Principal Investigator of an NIH-funded multi-institutional immunology project, with deep involvement in study design, budgeting, regulatory oversight, and team coordination.
From 2020 to 2023, Dr. Capasso served as Associate Dean for Research at Stanford School of Medicine, where he helped shape ÌÇÐÄ´«Ã½ infrastructure and policy across departments.
He is an Advisor to the Stanford Mussalem Center for Biodesign, where he has mentored dozens of students and start-ups across Brazil, Japan, Singapore, and the U.S. Many of these ventures have developed commercial devices, influenced policy or raised significant investment.
Over his career, Dr. Capasso has mentored hundreds of medical students, residents, fellows, and visiting scholars from over 30 countries, offering guidance in both clinical excellence and entrepreneurial thinking. His scholarship includes 100+ peer-reviewed publications, numerous invited keynotes, and impactful editorial contributions to leading academic journals.

That was simply not enough. It is very disheartening to have the feeling that the doctor that is seeing you does not have enough time to properly dive into the issue.

I went into the appointment not knowing exactly what to expect, but a little nervous because of not knowing what was going to happen. Dr Capasso had multiple assistants and people in the room. Once he checked me out he gave me his diagnosis. Because I had no nose issues, he brushed me off and wanted to send me to another doctor that can't be seen for another month. One of the assistants were rude to my son. I took my son and left. I decided to go to UCSF, they will at least see me sooner and help me.

It would be good if Dr. Cappaccio would explain what the nasal spray was BEFORE spraying into my nose, instead of saying "Im going to spray this in your nose & this is something that you will not like." I had to ask the student doctor what exactly the "sleep study" take come device was and it would have been better if Dr. Cappaccio explained what exactly what it was. I was surprised that it was a device that did not allow me to wear my CPAP machine.
I have not had such a coordinated and efficient medical experience as I did this visit (anywhere).
Dr. Capasso is EXCELLENT, efficient and concerned about my time. He knows I don't like using a CPAP machine and always has suggestions to help me and tried his best to make my problem as easy as possible for me to handle. He is caring and easy to talk to! I would not hesitate to strongly recommend him to anyone.

The man who did my IV was very nice and soft spoken. I remember I was crying right before I fell asleep and the nurse rubbed my head, so nice and comforting.

Dr Capasso didn't spend much time explaining post-op instructions and they weren't thoroughly explained in the paperwork either. I was told to rinse with saline, not how often or what kind. I knew to take how often to take meds and he was very helpful in getting me taken care of post-op on day of surgery. He's definitely a solid doctor.

Top of the line care!
The only concern was he sprayed my nose with numbing spray before asking or telling me what it was for and for my permission. He did say sorry immediately but it startled me. Please note I feel very comfortable with this doctor even though I had this experience just food for thought as it was necessary for him to perform the nasal endoscopy.
I have recommended Dr. Capasso several times since he has treated my sleep apnea. My dentist (who at times lectures at either USC or UCLA) looked in my mouth and proclaimed it was the best sleep apnea surgery he'd ever seen.

The doctor is personable & intelligent & respectful but I had the sense he felt pressure by scheduling to rush through our visit.
In the 10+ years I've been treating my issue, this was by far the best provider I've dealt with. Took steps to understand and find solutions, not just guess and try things that "might work."
