The aortic valve controls blood flow from the heart into a large artery called the aorta. Aortic stenosis is a narrowing of the aortic valve, which makes it harder for the valve to open. Transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) is a nonsurgical procedure to replace the aortic valve.

Stanford Medicine specialists are experts at performing the TAVR procedure. Ours was the first TAVR program in northern California, and we are among the first programs to offer TAVR to lower-risk patients.Ìý
