Ask the Heart Expert: Dr. Fearon Explains TAVR for Aortic Stenosis
09.20.2021
The aortic valve controls blood flow from the heart into a large artery called the aorta. Aortic stenosis is a narrowing of the aortic valve, which makes it harder for the valve to open. Transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) is a nonsurgical procedure to replace the aortic valve.
Stanford Medicine specialists are experts at performing the TAVR procedure. Ours was the first TAVR program in northern California, and we are among the first programs to offer TAVR to lower-risk patients.Ìý
Listen to Dr. Bill Fearon, director of interventional cardiology at ÌÇÐÄ´«Ã½, explain the TAVR procedure. Learn how you can benefit from this minimally invasive treatment.
