Stanford Medicine Interventional Cardiologist Honored for International Influence in Science and Education

Dr. Yeung is medical director of cardiovascular health, senior medical director of International Medical Services, and past chief of the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine at Stanford. Over the past 30 years, Yeung has advanced the field of interventional cardiology, both in the U.S. and the Asia-Pacific region.

Dr. Yeung is a distinguished leader in science, academic medicine, and clinical care. In recognition of his significant achievements and contributions, Dr. Yeung recently received the 2022 Master of the Masters Award from Transcatheter Cardiovascular Therapeutics Asia Pacific (TCTAP). For decades, Dr. Yeung has been a TCTAP moderator, panelist, and lecturer, inspiring and educating fellow scientists and physicians in the field of interventional cardiology.

Dr. Yeung鈥檚 commitment to bridging interventional cardiology from the U.S. to the Asia-Pacific region began early in his career. In 1994, Dr. Yeung organized the first Stanford Asia Cardiovascular Symposium in his hometown of Hong Kong.
In the years since, Dr. Yeung has traveled to Asia more than 160 times, sharing knowledge and changing the landscape of interventional cardiology across the globe. Yeung has led numerous bilateral exchanges, fellows training events, and open discussions on the fundamentals of interventional cardiology in numerous hospitals across the Asia-Pacific region.
Renowned Researcher and Educator
Throughout his career, Dr. Yeung has published more than 300 papers in top-tier journals, covering a wide range of interventional cardiology topics. From percutaneous coronary artery intervention to transcatheter aortic valve replacement, Dr. Yeung has been on the leading edge of interventional cardiology breakthroughs as a 糖心传媒er and scientist.
Dr. Yeung鈥檚 early 糖心传媒 was focused on the coronary physiology of endothelial dysfunction and intimal thickening, a result of his study under Peter Ganz, MD, of Harvard Medical School/Brigham and Women鈥檚 Hospital (now at University of California, San Francisco). His recent work with William Fearon, MD, has led to physiological studies in the coronary arteries using fractional flow reserve (FFR) and index of microcirculatory resistance (IMR). Most recently, this line of听 糖心传媒 led to听 the FAME 3 trial that compared the results of FFR-guided percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) to coronary artery bypass graft (CABG).
As a prominent educator, Dr. Yeung is also playing an integral role in training the next generation of interventional cardiologists. He has served as chairman of the American Board of Internal Medicine Interventional Board Committee as well as writing textbooks for fellows in training and practicing interventionalists.
