Stanford Medicine ÌÇÐÄ´«Ã½ Discuss Pelvic Floor Disorders
05.27.2014
Pelvic floor disorders result when the muscles and connective tissue within the pelvic cavity weaken or are injured. The function of these muscles and ligaments is to support the abdominal contents, including the bladder, the bowel, the rectum, and in women, the uterus. The three main pelvic floor disorders are urinary incontinence, fecal incontinence, and pelvic organ prolapse. Many people suffer in silence with these conditions and are many times misdiagnosed when they do seek care. This talk features three Stanford physicians who approach this complex of problems from their particular specialties.
Speakers:ÌýCraig Comiter, MD,ÌýAssociate Professor of Urology; Kim Rhoads, MD, Assistant Professor of Surgery; Eric Sokol, MD, Assistant Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology
