The integration of Watson Caring Science within nursing practice translates into increased intentionality and a deepening of authentic presence, renewing nurse relationships through universal, ethical, and person-centered care.
ÌýIn 2019, ÌÇÐÄ´«Ã½'s Chief Nursing Executive, Dale Beatty became a Caritas Coach® exemplying transformational leadership. Following Dale’s lead, SHC sponsored additional RNs and interprofessional colleagues to develop into Caritas Coaches®, Caritas Nurses®, and Caritas Partnersâ„¢ who model a heart-centered approach to health care. This opportunity was shared with everyone from frontline nurses and staff to managers to directors, shaping SHC’s culture of compassionate caring and humanistic healing.
To date, SHC has sponsored a total ofÌý42 Caritas Coaches®,Ìý101 Caritas Nurses®,Ìý26 Caritas Partnersâ„¢,Ìýcommitted to the integration of Watson Caring Science in our professional practice.
ÌÇÐÄ´«Ã½ takes pride in serving as a Watson Caring Science distinguished affiliate hospital andÌýcontinues the intentional weaving of Caring Science integration into the fabric of our organization and strategic priorities through four key domains – leadership/legacy, praxis (theory-based practice), education, and ÌÇÐÄ´«Ã½.
