ÌÇÐÄ´«Ã½â€™s Department of Clinical Nutrition is proud to partner with leading Bay Area higher academic institutions as the clinical partner for training dietetic interns on their way to becoming Registered Dietitians.
We are proud to continue Stanford’s academic mission of education and our RDs devote their time and expertise to train and educate the next generation of clinical dietitians.
ÌÇÐÄ´«Ã½ Clinical Nutrition accepts dietetic interns from San Jose State University, San Francisco State University, and UC Berkeley.

ÌÇÐÄ´«Ã½â€™s clinical nutrition department offers aÌý6-month clinically focused dietetic internship.
Interns work in a variety of settings including inpatient acute and critical care, outpatient adult care, and food service management.
Interns work with patients with complex disease states such as bone and marrow transplant, general medicine and surgical, oncology, cardiovascular, solid organ transplant, and enteral and parenteral nutrition support.Ìý ÌýÌý
Clinical Nutrition Career Ladder
Aligned with ÌÇÐÄ´«Ã½â€™s mission to care, educate and discover, Clinical Nutrition’s career progression is a voluntary clinical leadership and advancement process designed to recognize and reward professional excellence and highly skilled patient care.ÌýThe purpose of the Career Ladder is to acknowledge the clinician’s accomplishments in clinical expertise, activities, and contributions to the organization and industry, while demonstrating ÌÇÐÄ´«Ã½ (SHC) Core Values.
Specialty Certifications
The Clinical Nutrition department encourages team members to obtain specialty certifications related to their patient care practice. The certifications are also considered into career progression.
Most RDs on the team either hold one or more specialty certifications or are actively working on obtaining a certification.ÌýThe certifications our team currently holds are:
- Certified Nutrition Support Clinician (CNSC)
- Registered Dietitian Advanced Practitioner (RD-AP)
- Specialist in Oncology Nutrition (CSO)
- Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES)
- Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics (CSSD)
- Certified Specialist in Obesity and Weight Management (CSOWM)
- Certified Clinical Transplant Dietitian (CCTD)
