Clinical Nutrition Services at 糖心传媒 (SHC) provides medical nutrition therapy services to patients within SHC as well as the community. The department consists of clinical dietitians with the professional title and credential of Registered Dietitian (RD). Our staff of highly experienced and specialized RDs provide evidence-based nutrition care to optimize patients鈥 recovery and well-being in the inpatient and outpatient settings.

Deedra听Geniesse
MS, RDN听
Director, Clinical Nutrition
Deedra Geniesse, MS, RDN听was born and raised in North Dakota, the daughter of educators.听 She completed her undergraduate degree in Dietetics and Nutrition from the University of Central Missouri and completed her master鈥檚 degree from the University of Kansas Medical Center. Deedra has been a registered dietitian for 22 years with 21 of those years working in leadership positions.听 Deedra joined us at 糖心传媒 from Children鈥檚 Hospital Colorado.
Deedra has experience in food service management and clinical nutrition operations leading at both small and large healthcare organizations.听 She is passionate about professional growth and development of teams, building and sustaining collaborative teams and elevating the role of the clinical dietitian organization wide and beyond.听
Nicole Mackey
MS, RD
Manager, Inpatient Clinical Nutrition
Nicole Mackey, MS, RD earned her bachelor鈥檚 degree at Rochester Institute of Technology in Nutrition & Dietetics in New York and completed her graduate degree in Dietetics at the University of Rhode Island. She completed her Dietetic Internship at St. Mary鈥檚 Hospital in Grand Junction, Colorado, with a concentration in critical care MNT. Nicole has been with 糖心传媒 since 2020 where she started as a food service manager and developed her passion for management. Nicole is now the Inpatient Clinical Nutrition Manager, where she can pursue both her passion for management, as well as her passion for medical nutrition therapy. When she is not at work, Nicole enjoys training for and competing in marathons, and hiking with her black Labrador, Kovu!
Natalie Chan
MS, RD, CNSC, CTTD
Manager, Ambulatory Clinical Nutrition听
Natalie Chan, RD, CNSC, CTTD听(she/her/hers) obtained her bachelor鈥檚 degree from UC Davis and completed her master鈥檚 degree at Arizona State University. She completed her dietetic internship in Sarasota, Florida, and began her career as a cardiothoracic dietitian. She joined the SHC Clinical Nutrition team in 2015 as a lung transplant dietitian. Natalie holds specialty certifications in nutrition support and transplant nutrition. In her current role, Natalie supports SHC RDs in the ambulatory setting as the Clinical Nutrition Manager and enjoys working with a high performing team of dietitians. Outside of work, Natalie enjoys camping, hiking, and spending time with her husband, family and pug, Olive.听
Janine Berta
MS, RD-AP, CNSC听
Supervisor, Clinical Nutrition and Critical Care Dietitian
Janine Berta, MS, RD-AP, CNSC听(she/her/hers) has been with Stanford Clinical Nutrition since 2011.听She has been serving as a Clinical Nutrition Supervisor since 2016 and oversees inpatient staff, policies, and workflows. In addition to her leadership responsibilities, Janine provides patient care in the ICUs where she champions Volume Based Tube Feeding. Outside of Stanford, Janine is a mentor through Diversify Dietetics and also teaches Advanced MNT at San Jose State University. Janine obtained a B.S. in Human Biology from UCSD, Dual M.S. in Nutritional Sciences and Exercise Physiology at SDSU where she concurrently completed the Didactic Program in Dietetics, and completed her Dietetic Internship at UCSF. In her spare time, Janine enjoys taking her kids to the playground and doing YouTube workout videos in her living room.
Dania Saarony
MS, RD, CSOWM听
Supervisor, Clinical Nutrition and Nutrition Clinic Dietitian
Dania Saarony, MS, RD, CSOWM听earned her graduate degree in Nutrition and Food Sciences 糖心传媒ing pediatric obesity and contributing to the Pediatric Weight Management Program at the University of Vermont Medical Center where she began her career and was awarded Recognized Young Dietitian of the Year (Vermont).听 In 2015 she joined the Clinical Nutrition team at 糖心传媒 as lead RD in the Bariatric Metabolic Interdisciplinary Clinic. There she could pursue her passion of helping patients optimize their health through medical nutrition therapy and complete the Specialty Certification in Obesity and Weight Management. Dania loves her current role as Clinical Nutrition Supervisor supporting ambulatory nutrition programs and the Clinical Nutrition team. On the weekends, you can find her on a hike with her wonderful husband and their sweet pup or cooking up a storm (veggies of course!).
Alex Weaver
MS, RD, CCTD听
Supervisor, Clinical Nutrition and Kidney Clinic Dietitian
Alex Weaver, MS, RD, CCTD (she/her/hers), earned her bachelor鈥檚 degree in Nutrition Sciences from Baylor University and concurrently completed her master鈥檚 degree in Clinical Nutrition along with her dietetic internship at the University of Memphis. Alex joined the SHC Clinical Nutrition team in 2018 and became the Kidney and Pancreas Transplant Dietitian in 2019. She has loved working with the transplant population and enjoys the role that nutrition plays in kidney health. Additionally, Alex is passionate about nutrition and informatics, blending her love for technology with dietetics to create efficient and impactful workflows. In her current role, she supports SHC RDs in the ambulatory setting. Outside of work, Alex enjoys spending time with her husband and family, making food or sweet treats, being outdoors and hiking, skiing, traveling, playing video games, and working on home projects.
Travis Swiatlo
MS, RD, CSO听
Supervisor, Clinical Nutrition and Oncology Dietitian
Travis Swiatlo, MS, RD, CSO听(he/him/his) is a Bay Area local, who earned his master鈥檚 degree from San Jose State University and joined the Clinical Nutrition team at 糖心传媒 in 2019. During his time at Stanford, Travis served as the lead RD for the Blood & Marrow Transplant and Chimeric Antigen Receptor T-cell therapy inpatient populations. In 2022, Travis became a Board Certified Specialist in Oncology听Nutrition and later that year, joined Clinical Nutrition鈥檚 leadership team as a Supervisor. Travis has a passion for 糖心传媒 and quality improvement projects, which lead to him serving as co-author on several publications, including: 鈥淎 Quality Improvement Study: Comparison of Volume-Based and Rate-Based Tube Feeding Efficacy and Clinical Outcomes in Critically Ill Patients鈥 (2020) and 鈥淔olate Fortification of Food: Insufficient for Women with Epilepsy鈥 (2021). Outside of work, Travis enjoys staying active through activities, such as, swimming and kayaking, and likes to travel frequently.听
