What is a Clinical Nurse Specialist?
Clinical Nurse Specialists, a role in existence for more than 60 years, Ìýare Advanced Practice Providers (APP) with preparation at a master’s, post-master’s certificate, or doctoral level. ÌýThey function as leaders, expert clinicians, consultants, ÌÇÐÄ´«Ã½ers, and educators in various settings. The CNS operates within the spheres of patients/families, nurses/nursing, and organizations/systems to ensure the highest quality of care. CNSs provide recommendations for patient-tailored care, are experts within a specialty practice, and serve as teachers and mentors to ensure standards of patient care are met. CNSs work with interdisciplinary teams to make improvements within their organizations, such as implementing new evidence-based practice guidelines.
CNSs advance the practice of nursing to achieve quality and cost-effective patient outcomes as well as provide leadership of multidisciplinary groups in designing and implementing innovative solutions for system problems and/or patient care issues.Ìý
Nursing Wellness and Resiliency
Improving the clinical work environment and supporting the well-being of our staff is essential workplace safety and quality of patient care. The Clinical Practice Team provides resources for situational debriefing, wellness and resiliency activities.
Practice Integration
The Practice Integration Team supports the implementation and evaluation of evidence-based practices by collaborating with cross-functional teams across Patient Care Services and other departments. Leveraging expertise in hospital operations, regulatory compliance, and quality improvement, the team provides consultation and guidance to achieve streamlined processes that enhance clinical workflows and support positive patient outcomes.Ìý
Sepsis Program
The Sepsis Program optimizes sepsis care through interdisciplinary and interprofessional collaboration. Its aims are to prevent sepsis through infection prevention and patient education strategies. The program leverages technological tools and clinical expertise to provide care that is individualized, patient-centered, and evidence-based. The Sepsis Program at ÌÇÐÄ´«Ã½ recognizes that early identification and treatment of sepsis is critical to achieving positive patient outcomes.
