The Specialty Practice Team consists of nurses who provide complex or high-risk patient care that requires additional education and expertise.
Wound and Ostomy Team
The Wound and Ostomy Team consists of nurses who are board certified in wound and ostomy care. They act as a consultant to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate the care of patients with wound, ostomy, and fistula issues. They provide resources and education for patients, families, and staff. The highly trained team leads the hospital-wide pressure injury prevention program and collaborates with interdisciplinary teams on quality improvement initiatives.
Vascular Access/PICC Team
The Vascular Access/PICC Team consists of nurses who are board certified vascular access specialist. They have advanced knowledge in insertion techniques, clinical care, and management of vascular access devices. Our highly skilled staff collaborates with interdisciplinary care teams to provide optimal, evidence-based vascular access care for patients. It is especially significant to establish a reliable access for critically ill patients who need frequent blood sampling, vasoactive medications, rapid fluid resuscitation, and prolonged antibiotic treatment.Ìý
Specialty Procedures (Cortrak KEO FT Insertion) Team
The Specialty Procedures Team (SPT) is a dedicated team of registered nurses who utilize their experience in biomechanics and ergonomics to insert feeding tubes for enteral feeding using electromagnetic technology (Cortrak).Ìý This tracking technology utilizes a sensing device to track the path of feeding tube tip to ensure accurate placement without the need for abdominal X-rays for post pyloric tube placement.Ìý The RNs on this team collaborate with interdisciplinary care teams to evaluate patient appropriateness, leveraging their knowledge of known contraindications with their extensive insertion experience to provide optimal, evidence-based care.Ìý ÌýThis specialty nursing team focuses on accurate feeding tube placement that results in fewer procedural complications, decreases patient radiation exposure, and improves patient outcomes.
