Adult Primary Care and Internal Medicine

From routine exams, to diagnosing and managing adult conditions, we provide adult primary care for patients 18 years of age or older. Our internal medicine doctors offer a broad range of primary care services, as well as in-depth knowledge and expertise in areas like cardiology and orthopaedics.

Your Visit

Lab and test results

  • All lab and test results are released to you onÌýMyHealth upon completion and review by your doctor. Abnormal results or those of an urgent nature will be phoned directly to you as soon as the results are available.
  • Please email your doctor with questions regarding your lab or test results.

Prescriptions

We do not renew routine prescriptions or narcotic prescription after-hours. Please leave a voice mail message with your pharmacy or practice coordinator so that your records can be reviewed the next day and your prescription refilled during usual business hours.

  • Routine prescription renewals:ÌýContact your pharmacy directly and they will utilize our fax-back service to renew your prescription.
  • New prescriptions:ÌýPlease contact your doctor or practice coordinator.

Pharmacy

You may continue to use your local or mail order pharmacy for your medication needs. However, for your convenience, the Medical Plaza Pharmacy is also available at Hoover Pavilion.

EMERGENCY CARE

Emergency room visits outside clinic hours no longer require pre-authorization by your doctor, by California State Law. Make sure you inform your physician within 24 hours following your visit.

Be aware of your health plan limitations - unless you require 911 emergency transport, some health plans require you to obtain all after-hours emergency care at Stanford ER if you have a primary care doctor at Stanford.

A physician is on-call after hours to coordinate any emergency care needs which arise after-hours and can be reached at the 24 hour number: 650-498-9000.

PHARMACISTS

Our clinical pharmacists collaborate with your doctor to address your health needs. For certain health care conditions, they can order necessary lab tests, start, adjust, or stop medications, and provide thorough education. They focus on important topics such as taking medications correctly, understanding potential side effects, recognizing how different medications and health conditions interact, and considering the cost of treatments. Their goal is to help you live well and feel your best!

DIABETES CARE PROGRAM

Your provider can refer you to this program, which offers Diabetes Self-Management Training as a valuable health benefit for individuals diagnosed with Diabetes.

They address your concerns and offer training on state-of-the-art technology,Ìýincluding Continuous glucose monitoring data review.ÌýThey can help you tailor fitness and nutritious meal plans to your preferences while focusing on preventing complications.
