Risk Factors

Familial lipid disorder is major risk factor for heart disease. For instance, it is responsible for 20% of all heart attacks in people 45 and younger. If untreated, 50% of men with FH will have a heart attack by age 50 and 30% of women will have a heart attack by age 60. The health care costs of familial lipid disorders are enormous.
