An abnormal gene is the cause of HHT. One abnormal copy of the gene from one parent can cause the disorder. Although the children of this parent have a 50% chance of inheriting the gene, children who do not have it are not carriers.
Genetic testing for HHT is available at only a few centers in the US, such as ÌÇÐÄ´«Ã½, due to the complexity of the family-based tests.
