Peripheral Nerve Block - Procedures
What Happens During the Procedure?
With this procedure, an IV will be placed in your hand or arm and you will be given some intravenous medicine to help you relax and have less pain from the needle used for the procedure. You will not be asleep. An X-ray machine is used to locate the area(s) of the spine to be injected.
Your doctor will use a local anesthetic to numb the area(s) to be injected. You will feel a pinprick and then a burning feeling as the local anesthetic is injected.ÌýOnce the area is numb, the spinal epidural needle will be placed and the steroid injected.Ìý
